Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the way businesses operate, offering new opportunities to improve productivity, strengthen customer engagement, streamline operations and support informed decision-making. However, many women-led micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (W-MSMEs) face barriers to adopting AI, including limited awareness, technical skills and access to practical, business-oriented guidance.
The AI Integration Toolkit for Women Entrepreneurs was developed under the Investing in Young Businesses in Africa – Women Entrepreneurship for Africa (IYBA WE4A) programme in Kenya to bridge this gap. Co-created with women entrepreneurs through an interactive design process, the toolkit responds to real business challenges and provides practical guidance on integrating AI into everyday business operations.
A practical guide to AI adoption
Designed for entrepreneurs with little or no prior AI experience, the toolkit translates AI concepts into practical business applications. It provides step-by-step guidance, ready-to-use prompts, recommended AI tools, and real-life examples that entrepreneurs can immediately apply to improve efficiency, marketing, customer service, financial management and business planning.
The toolkit also promotes the responsible and ethical use of AI by providing guidance on data privacy, critical evaluation of AI-generated content and good digital practices.
Supporting business growth through digital innovation
Rather than focusing on technology alone, the toolkit demonstrates how AI can become a practical business partner - helping entrepreneurs save time, make better decisions, strengthen competitiveness and unlock new opportunities for growth. It complements the broader IYBA-WE4A objective of increasing the economic empowerment and financial inclusion of women entrepreneurs in sectors contributing to the green transformation.
