From 23–25 September 2025, the GIZ WE4D Tanzania, through the Investing in Young Businesses in Africa – Women Entrepreneurship for Africa (IYBA WE4A) project, in partnership with the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC), organized a three-day information session under the theme: “Enhancing Compliance, Finance, and Market Linkages.”
The event aimed to address key challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in compliance, access to finance, and market linkages. It brought together 206 participants from across Tanzania, including 36 IYBA WE4A beneficiaries, government representatives, financial service providers, and business development organizations.
Objectives of the Event:
- Build knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements for women-led enterprises
- Enhance understanding of financing options, investment opportunities, and capital markets
- Facilitate market linkages between women entrepreneurs and buyers
- Strengthen networks and peer-to-peer learning among women entrepreneurs
Empowering Women Entrepreneurs
Over three days, participants engaged in workshops, expert-led discussions, and interactive sessions designed to improve regulatory awareness, financial literacy, and market access. The sessions equipped entrepreneurs with practical tools to navigate business registration, tax compliance, and financial reporting, laying the foundation for stronger, sustainable business practices.
The event also connected participants with relevant service providers, showcased inclusive financial products, and promoted digital tools such as TWCC’s iSOKO platform for marketing and record-keeping.

BRITAM Insurance, Azania Bank, ScanCode, SmartEFD, Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO), Government Chemist Laboratory Agency (GCLA), Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA), Business Registrations and Licencing Agency (BRELA), Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), GS1 Barcode, Settlo, Network for African Business women (NABW), Unit Trust of Tanzania Asset Management and Investor Services (UTT Amis), National Social Security Fund (NSSF), and Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA). Each organization had a dedicated space for direct engagement, offering services including account opening, mobile banking demonstrations, loan eligibility assessments, and business advisory support.
Showcasing Women-Led Innovations
Entrepreneurs exhibited a wide range of products and services, from organic spices, baked goods, and traditional delicacies to handcrafted textiles, eco-friendly beauty products, and innovative business solutions. This platform fostered meaningful connections with potential buyers, partners, and investors, enhancing market access and growth opportunities.
EU Support for Women Entrepreneurs
The event was graced by Mr. Sebastian Schaber, the European Union focal person for Tanzania, who reaffirmed the EU’s strong support for women entrepreneurs. He highlighted financial and capacity-building initiatives under IYBA WE4A, emphasizing the project’s role in strengthening early-stage businesses and promoting inclusive economic growth in Tanzania.
