In August 2025, twelve women entrepreneurs supported by the IYBA WE4A project proudly represented their businesses at the Maputo International Trade Fair (FACIM), Mozambique’s largest and most influential multi-sector exhibition. The event brought together thousands of visitors, investors, government institutions, and private-sector actors from across Mozambique and beyond.
The entrepreneurs exhibited under the pavilion of IPEME, Mozambique’s national institute for supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. IPEME provided a dedicated exhibition space for the IYBA WE4A entrepreneurs, with each participant hosting her own stand. Their businesses spanned sectors central to green and sustainable development, including aquaculture, agro-processing, renewable energy, eco-friendly consumer goods, technology, and agribusiness.
Most entrepreneurs were already at an advanced stage in their business journeys, having active operations, existing customers, and marketing materials. This readiness allowed them to confidently pitch their products and services, strengthen their visibility, and position themselves for new partnerships. Among the standout participants was an aquaculture entrepreneur—also a biologist—who operates several functional fish-farming pools and is preparing for further expansion.
Targeted Support to Strengthen Participation
To ensure the entrepreneurs maximised the opportunity, IYBA WE4A—working with a local consultant and IPEME—provided comprehensive support before and during the fair:
- Training and Coaching: Focused sessions on booth presentation, visitor engagement, and effective pitching, including on-site coaching at the fairgrounds.
- Marketing Materials: Development of customised one-page business profiles to facilitate conversations with potential clients, partners, and investors.
- Exhibition Stand Preparation: Guidance on creating visually appealing and professional booths, while IPEME ensured the necessary infrastructure and logistical arrangements.
- Strategic Orientation: Advice on navigating the fair, identifying key stakeholders, and making use of high-value networking opportunities.
- B2B Matchmaking: Proactive connections with buyers, investors, and sector-specific partners to support business growth.
The participation of these twelve women entrepreneurs underscores the impact of the IYBA WE4A project in empowering women-led enterprises, promoting sustainable business practices, and enabling access to new markets. Events like FACIM 2025 play a pivotal role in expanding visibility, strengthening networks, and unlocking growth opportunities for women entrepreneurs driving green and inclusive economic development.
